"SPELLBOUND"

All the way back in July I worked as a fashion stylist on a Guy Aroch shoot for Vs. Magazine, with the beautiful model Jessica Stam. It all took place in Gramercy, New York, at The National Arts Club. The inspiration was “Rosemary’s Baby”  & the settings couldn’t be more perfect - it all ended up in these cinematic pictures.

"MADEMOISELLE"
Part 6 out of 6.

Sometimes you get inspiration from a outfit, the lighting, location, a feeling or in the object you are capturing. In this shoot we had the location as our starting point. From here we created the perfect outfit, that would complement the beautiful, but rough settings. We quickly realized from a few test photos, that we had another story to tell, than the one we started out to envision. Beneath you find some historic vintage photos of women working for their living and survival. Our shoot is not to be taken literally, but we have played with the some of the same emotions that we found in the vintage photos. Inspiration has many faces!

OUTFIT: Marc Jacobs vintage dress, Clutch and pearl cuff necklace from Goth vintage, shoes from Tahari.

My latest trip to Turks & Caicos was all about relaxation, swimming in the crystal clear water and eating and drinking healthy and delish caribbean seafood. Mission Completed! As a first time traveller to the T.C.I, let me just locate this little paradise for you. 40 tiny islands and caves located 550 miles southeast of Miami, Florida, just below the Bahamas chain and just to the east of Cuba and the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
When you go to T.C.I don’t expect a lot of sightseeing (the island is the size of Manhattan) or overload of nature sights and action packed adventures, this is not the place for you if you are the big explorer. Instead enjoy the tranquility of the islands and explore it in only one day, cruising around on a cool red Vespa. (Be aware of left-side driving). Compared to other destinations in the caribbean, this is my first time to experience such a warm and friendly attitude from the local inhabitants of the island. It was all smiles, friendly comments and curious talk. BIG plus - because when visiting new territory it actually comes down to feeling welcome and experience real hospitality. This you get! Here are some of my weeks highlights and recommendations to my favorite places to eat and chill:

  1. Elle US, Orange Juice, Diet Coke & Cold Cantaloups… ready to chill at the beach.
  2. Practicing a breathing technique that should be Oh-so healthy for body and mind. Read more about the Anapanasati breathing technique here.
  3.  Catamaran sailing at Grace Bay.
  4. Walking at the beach looking for sea shells and conchs.
  5. Our hotel and restaurant. The Royal West Indies & Pelican Bay Restaurant.
  6. Steak at the famous Coco Bistro. I had two starters, their Grilled Shrimp Satay on Sugar Cane Skewers with Banana Chutney, Jamaican Curry Dip and a Spicy Asian Hot Sauce and lobster ravioli in white wine sauce and infused spicy lobster fond.
  7. Sea kayaking in Grace Bay.
  8. Balancing on an old worn out dock in Grace Bay.
  9. Fresh conchs pulled out of the sea. Next step is preparation at the beach and served at the restaurant Bugaloos.
  10. Vespa and cruising the island of Turks. Best way to get around!

All bikinis are from ROXY swim collection. Sunnies from Jimmy Choo. Leoprad printed vintage scarf my mum wore in the 80`s. Shirt and shorts are from H&M.

"EAST RIVER’S CHARM"
Part 1 out of 6 style stories, shot in some of the oldest and most iconic places in New York.

East River’s Charm

BY Samuel Greenberg

Is this the river East I heard?—

Where the ferries, tugs and sailboats stirred

And the reaching wharves from the inner land

Ourstretched, like the harmless receiving hand—And the silvery tinge that sparkles aloud

Like the brilliant white demons, which a tide has towed

From the rays of the morning sun

Which it doth ceaselessly shine upon.

But look at the depth of the drippling tide

The dripples, reripples like the locusts astride; As the boat turns upon the silvery spread

It leaves—strange—a shadow dead.

And the very charms from the reflective river

And from the stacks of the floating boat—

There seemeth the quality ne’er to dissever

Like the ruffles from the mystified smoke.

The shoot is done with LOTS of love, passion and girl power. This is a project we have created together with the vision of showing beautiful fashion pieces in the frames of the old and classic New York. We are taking you deep into the oldest streets of New York, showing you another, more quite side of the pulsating city. Our inspirations where are a lot, but to mention a few; Chanel, Guy Aroch, Audrey Hepburn, Diana Vreeland, Edie Sedgwick and of course the always elegant Jackie O.
OUTFIT: Azur blue vintage dress from Vice Versa in Park Slopes, Brooklyn. Bordeaux Vince Camuto pumps, vintage stone finger ring and gupsy inspired earrings found in a market in Andalucia, Spain.

Yet again I ask myself why I never double check my calendar before I was heading to Copenhagen this time a year. Of course I missed out of the release of the FW13 Vs. Magazine issue, that they celebrated in style. One of the magazine’s cover girls, Hailey Clauson, DJ-ed the party and it couldn’t have been a better fit to celebrate this issue. Oh, I wish I was there….
But just because I cheated myself for a blast of a party, I wont cheat you for a sneak peak, provided by my lovely NYFW reporter Allison.
